Access Me
Making work on the artists’ own terms
Co-Creator · Producer · Associate Director
Eight years of making a performance about disability, sexuality and access with the Boys in Chairs Collective.
About the project — Access MeSelected work in directing, producing and teaching.
I like getting into the questions behind a project: why this idea, why these people, why now? Bring me something unfinished. We can work out what needs testing, what needs support and where to begin.
I bring the same attention to a rehearsal as I do to a budget or schedule. I want us to be clear about what we’re asking of one another, make room for access and rest, and talk honestly about what the time and resources allow.
I want room to try things, be silly and discover something we couldn’t have planned. Care means listening, giving useful feedback and being willing to change the process when it isn’t serving the people or the work.
I work with plays, games and audiences who become part of the performance.
