I’ve come to festivals as an artist and as a producer. I think about both sides of that experience: how artists share their work, how people find one another, and what makes a busy festival possible to navigate.

PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

Industry Producer · 2025 & 2026 festival editions

As Industry Producer, I produced PuSh’s Industry Series, bringing artists, presenters, producers and curators from across Canada and internationally into conversation around contemporary performance.

I coordinated the programme, schedules, travel and hospitality, and worked on relationships between artists and presenters. The point was to give people time to talk about the work and find reasons to stay in touch.

I also hosted networking events, pitch sessions and discussions about producing, helping artists share their work and meet people who could help it reach new audiences.

SummerWorks Performance Festival

Associate Producer · 2025
Festival Producer · 2026

Having presented work at SummerWorks, I returned to support the festival as a producer.

As Festival Producer, I worked across artists, schedules, travel, venues, production, technical teams, marketing, ticketing, front of house and hospitality within a multidisciplinary program.

I also changed how the Festival’s team organized its work. I introduced a staff-wide project management system and shared ways to handle communication, schedules, documents and decisions.

I wanted staff to know who was responsible for what, where to find information and when decisions needed to happen. Those practical choices affect the time and attention a team can give to artists.

Earlier festival practice

I also curated professional development programming through Compass Points at Magnetic North Theatre Festival (in Whitehorse and Ottawa) and worked as Associate Producer with Dance in Vancouver at The Dance Centre.

Making room for rest

I don’t think exhaustion is proof that we’ve done a good job. I want people to do ambitious work and still have energy for their lives outside the festival.

That means planning workloads, schedules and responsibilities with rest in mind, then checking whether the way we’re working actually allows it.
